About me
Ruairi is an artist based in Portstewart on the North Coast of Ireland. Qualifying in 2017 from St Mary’s University College Belfast as an art teacher, he spent the following years combining travel and teaching. Ruairi is unashamedly in love with the North Coast and starts his days with an invigorating dip in the cold Atlantic water. When he is not in the studio, Ruairi spends his time playing sport, specifically Gaelic Football and Hurling, and playing music at the weekends.
Ruairi works predominately in acrylic to create powerful portrait and landscape works. He draws inspiration from the picturesque landscapes of his local area as well as his passion for music and sports, evident in his portraiture work.
Ruairi has a varied portfolio of original artwork from contemporary landscape pieces to highly detailed portraits. His work includes dramatic studies of the North Coast, Derry, Belfast and the Mournes, as well as portraits of some of our most iconic figures in sports, music and literature. His work reflects the beauty of the distinct Irish landscape and its people.
Exhibitions in 2024
It has been a busy year of creating and exhibiting new work. The April solo Exhibition and Sale of work was held in Portrush Town Hall and proved to be a great success.
This will be followed by a summer Exhibition in the Portstewart Golf Club, August 2nd - 4th.
